Watford smother the tangerines

The hornets comfortably beat Blackpool on Saturday to move the Hertfordshire club to 3rd in the Sky Bet Championship. Goals from Academy product Tobi Adeymo and Sarr secured the win for the golden boys. Debuts for Matheus Martins and Joao Ferreira pushed the orns to two 2nd half goals. To include, Ismael Kone made his first appearance in the vic, the Canadian looked un-phased on the ball and made a crucial pass for the penalty. This was Watford's first home win at 3 PM this season which shows the transition this team has made since the start of this season.

Personally my MOTM was youth player James Morris; he made the LB spot his own today and showed why Kamara wont waltz into the starting lineup after serving his suspension. He kept Bowler in his pocket and showed his attacking prospects.

New manager... same result

Saturday 12th February

Watford 0-2 Brighton

Another frustrating afternoon at Vicarage Road where Brighton outplayed the disheartened Watford which means that the hornets are stuck in the relegation zone for another week. It was the home debut of new manager Roy Hodgson which seemed a positive beginning for the Saturday 3pm kick off. But the technical play from the likes of Tariq Lamptey and Jakub Moder made countless opportunities that Brighton failed to capitalise until the edge of half time where Neal Maupay scored a brilliant driven volley into the top corner celebrating near the rookery stand where the groans could be heard from the club shop.

Hodgson’s style seemed to be more defensive and allowing the opposition team to have more of the ball. However, the defence were more organised compared to Ranieri’s team.

The 2nd half seemed more promising with the early introductions of Imran Louza and AFCON winner Ismaila Sarr who made the team play a more exciting football. But still Brighton rang rings around Watford which eventually led to an unfortunate goal for Adam Webster from a corner.

This setback continues the poor form from the start of this calendar year which puts Watford in 19th place only In-front of Burnley. A tough game against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa means that a win at this point of the time seems unlikely but is crucial.

Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa play exciting football with the likes of England prospect Jacob Ramsay and new starlet signing Philippe Coutinho with the potential strike force of Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings. Even though Aston villa have conceded 6 goals in 4 games it will need to be an amazing fight from Watford to defeat the Brummies’.

Have the lights gone out at Vicarage Road?

Have the lights gone out at Vicarage Road?

Watford 0 Norwich 3
Friday 21st January 2022

Where to begin. Absolute shocking performance from Watford, the ref and the flood lights. This blog was to showcase how good my club is but after that display I would even be happier becoming a Burnley fan.

This match was meant to be a tribute to our greatest manager Graham Taylor, near to the 5th anniversary of his sad death. The team didn't keep up their side of the bargain.

With Foster out because of Covid we had to deal with championship level keeper Daniel Bachman who couldn't even save an inflatable beach ball. New signings: Edo Kayembe, Hassane Kamara and Samir. All weren't excellent but weren't   the worst players tonight. Dennis who was most of the countries fantasy captain lost his cool and won his second yellow card which sent him down the tunnel, he will now miss important away match against Burnley.

You must give credit to Norwich and their fans. A brace for American man Sargent who scored a brace and seemed to be unmatched by any Watford defender. At the start of the season, everybody, including most Norwich fans thought that they would be going straight back down. But now they see themselves out of the relegation zone for the first time this season with struggling Everton next in line.

Now it's a question for Ranieri and his employers. Personally, I think Ranieri has had his run and it has to come to a premature end. But mainly I think that the Pozzo family should sell and leave without a trace. We must thank them from saving us from administration, but they have no time for managers and because of this no half decent manager would want to be the Watford coach.

Player Ratings:
  • Bachman 1/10 is never consistent and can't kick a ball to save his life
  • Femina 3/10 made a few decent passes but other than that he was useless.
  • Kabasele 4/10 coming from injury so was never going to be excellent but could have tried a bit more.
  • Samir 5/10 good player and strong but gave too many silly fouls.
  • Kamara 4/10 had a good few runs but lacked that physicality that you need in the premier league.
  • Kayembe 3/10 made one good pass but gave the ball too many times and had poor positioning.
  • Cleverly 4/10 wasn't shocking but can do better
  • Sissoko 4/10 wasn't that bad but needed a better performance after he wrote that message saying that we should all come to watch the hornets on a cold Friday evening.
  • King 3/10 didn't have the ball very much when he had was lazy.
  • Dennis 2/10 lost his cool and got a red. Will miss an extremely important Burnley game.
  • Pedro 5/10 was decent but should have done better with some chances.
Subs:
  • Cucho 7/10 was an instant impact and was playing for the badge.
  • Kucka 1/10 didn't do anything good but scored an own goal.
  • Sema 4/10 didn't have enough time to do anything substantial.

Overall, this was a must win game and we lose to a team that at the start of the season were called 'championship level'. At this rate that could be us so we need to win against Burnley or we could be bottom.

We move on to next week.
